# How much does a domain name cost?

A domain name is your unique identity on the Internet (e.g., `yourbusiness.com`).

When you get a domain, you aren't strictly "buying" it forever; you are purchasing the right to use it for a set period, usually one year.
It is crucial to renew your domain before it expires, otherwise, you risk losing it to another user.
