# Registering a domain name

⚠️ We often talk about "buying" a domain name, but this is technically a misuse of language. 

You don't actually "own" a domain name forever; you purchase the right to use it for a specific period.

To keep your domain, you must maintain a **subscription** that is renewed annually.

#### How to register a domain with Copilhost:

It’s very simple:
1. Go to the **"Domains"** tab, click **"New"**, and select **"Register a domain"**
2. A pop-up will appear. Enter the domain name you are interested in and check its **availability** by clicking "**Verify**"
3. Once the availability is confirmed, click **"Next"**
4. Select an existing **billing address** or create a new one, then click **"Next"**
5. Select your **payment method** and click **"Next"**
6. Review your order details, accept the **Terms of Service (TOS)**, and click the **"Pay and create"** button.

🎉 You have successfully registered your domain name for the year! 
You can now find it in your domain list under the **"Domains"** tab.
