Website Migration

You can request a website migration directly from your Copilhost dashboard.

1. Go to the "Sites" tab and click "New" > "Migrate site".
2. When the pop-up appears, select the right-hand option: "Done-for-you migration".
3. Follow the instructions to securely share your current site access details with us.

What happens next? Our team will handle the migration within 48 hours.

You will receive an email confirmation once the process is complete.

Important: Please refrain from making any changes to your website until the migration is finalized.**Important: **Please wait until your website migration is fully completed before initiating your domain transfer. This ensures a smooth transition and avoids any technical conflicts during the process.

Domain Name Transfer

Once your site is migrated, you can transfer your domain name to Copilhost.

For privacy and security reasons, hosting providers cannot initiate this transfer for you, but the process is very simple!

Step 1: Get your Transfer Key

Log in to your current registrar (old host) and retrieve your Transfer Key (also known as an Auth-Code or EPP Code). Make sure the domain is unlocked for transfer.

Step 2: Initiate Transfer on Copilhost

1. Go to the "Domains" tab and click "New" > "Transfer domain".
2. Enter your domain name and click "Check" to verify its eligibility.

Why might a transfer be unavailable?

• Typo or non-existent domain: Double-check the spelling. If the domain doesn't exist yet, choose "Register a new domain" instead.
• 60-Day Lock: ICANN rules prevent transferring a domain that was created or previously transferred within the last 60 days.
• Domain Locked: Ensure the "Transfer Lock" is disabled at your current registrar.

Step 3: Finalize Enter the transfer key (Auth-Code) and proceed to payment.

• If you have a free domain credit (included with annual Cloud plans), you will not be charged.
• Otherwise: The transfer fee typically covers an additional year of registration added to your current expiration date.

Note: Transfers can take several days to complete. You can track the progress by clicking the "Info" icon (Status: Transfer to Copilhost in progress).

Linking your Domain to your Site

Once the transfer is complete, you can easily link the domain to your site:

• Method A: In the "Sites" tab, click the three dots on your site card and select "Link a domain". Your transferred domain will appear in the list.
• Method B: In the "Domains" tab, click the three dots next to your domain and select "Link a site". You can then choose an existing site or create a new one.

Important: DNS and Cache Delay

After linking a domain to your site, please note that the website might not be accessible immediately.

• Propagation: It usually takes a few minutes for the changes to take effect.
• Caching Issues: If you still cannot access your site after 20–30 minutes, it is likely that your browser or network is caching an outdated version of the page.

What should you do? If the site doesn't appear, you can follow this guide on clearing cache or simply wait. In most cases, your site will be fully accessible within a few hours at most.
