Sending emails from your WordPress website
By default, WordPress sends notification emails for actions such as password resets, new account creations, or blog comments.
If you use an e-commerce plugin like WooCommerce, your site also sends **transactional emails, **such as order confirmations and shipping updates.
How emails are sent at Copilhost
All these emails are automatically dispatched through our MailChannels SMTP relay. We handle automatic IP rotations and maintain high-quality IP pools to ensure the best possible reputation for your outgoing mail, with no configuration required on your part.
However, there are several reasons why you should manually configure a professional email address for your site's outgoing mail:
- Better Deliverability: Some providers (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) have strict filters. Using a dedicated professional address reduces the risk of your emails ending up in the spam folder.
- Higher Sending Limits: Default sending is capped at 100 emails per day per cloud. By configuring a professional Copilhost email address via SMTP, your limit increases to 400 emails per hour, per address.
- Logging: You gain visibility into your outgoing mail (logs), which is essential for monitoring your site's activity and troubleshooting issues.
⚠️ Important: Our servers are not designed for mass email marketing. For newsletters or marketing campaigns, you must use a dedicated service like Brevo, MailChimp, or GetResponse. Using our servers for marketing campaigns may result in your email address being banned.
Is an SMTP plugin absolutely necessary?
No. If you are currently receiving your notifications correctly and outgoing mail is not a critical part of your project, you don't need to change anything.
However, for e-commerce sites, booking platforms, or membership areas, we strongly recommend configuring a dedicated SMTP setup.
How to configure an SMTP plugin with Copilhost
- Create your email address: First, ensure you have created a professional email address in your Copanel (Domains > Select your domain > Emails Accounts > New).
- Install an SMTP plugin: There are many options, but we recommend FluentSMTP or SureSMTP.
- Configure the connection: In the plugin settings, add your email address using the SMTP connection details found in the "Emails" section of your domain in Copilhost :
